Ask the assistant for a slide deck, a spreadsheet or a chart, and it builds the file for you to download. Slide decks can use your own PowerPoint template, and chart figures are calculated from your data rather than estimated.
Before you start
There is nothing to switch on. Describe the file you want in the chat, and the assistant decides when to build it.
Availability
- Available on cloud deployments in the UK, US, EU, Canada and Australia.
- Not available on on-premises, Azure or FedStart deployments.
Approving a run
Before the assistant builds a file, a Running command card appears with a one-line summary of what it is about to do. Choose one:
- Deny: nothing runs, and the assistant won't retry.
- Allow Once: approves this run only.
- Allow Per Session: approves runs in this chat for 12 hours, so you aren't asked again.
Files are built in an isolated, disposable environment with no network access and no credentials.
Create a slide deck on your own template
- Open the assistant.
- Click the paper clip icon and then the Template tab. Upload your PowerPoint template (.pptx, up to 25 MB) there.
- Attach the document the deck should draw on, such as the RFP.
-
Describe the deck you want. For example:
Build me a 6-slide deck summarizing this opportunity for our bid/no-bid meeting, using my template.
- When the Running command card appears, choose Allow Once or Allow Per Session.
- Download the finished file from the download card and open it in PowerPoint.
The deck uses the layouts, fonts and colors from your template. It is a standard .pptx, so you can keep editing it in PowerPoint.
Templates apply to the message you attach them to and aren't saved. Attach your template again each time you ask for a new deck.
Edit your deck by asking
Stay in the same chat and ask for the change. The assistant updates the deck it just made, so you don't need to upload your template again.
Drop the risks slide and add one on our differentiators.
You get the updated deck as a new download. Only decks can be edited this way.
Build or fill in a spreadsheet
- Attach the files the spreadsheet should use. For example, a questionnaire (.xlsx) and a company profile (.docx).
- In your sources, make sure Attached files is selected.
-
Ask for the spreadsheet. For example:
Fill in the Answer column in this questionnaire using the company profile and give it back to me as an Excel file.
- Approve the Running command card.
- Download the .xlsx from the download card.
The assistant can't edit a spreadsheet it has made. If you ask for changes, it builds a new file from scratch, so for small tweaks it's quicker to edit the file in Excel.
Create a chart from your data
- Attach the file that holds your data, such as a pipeline spreadsheet (.xlsx).
-
Ask for the chart, and say what you want on it. For example:
Using the attached pipeline data, work out the win rate for each month, then plot it as a line chart showing win rate as a percentage by month. Title it "Monthly win rate" and label both axes. Give me the chart as a PNG.
- Approve the Running command card.
- Download the .png from the download card.
The figures on the chart are calculated from your data, not estimated. You can also ask the assistant to report the numbers in its reply, such as the overall win rate or the best and worst months.
Like spreadsheets, charts can't be edited after they're made. Ask again with the changes you want and the assistant builds a new one.
Tips for your requests
- Name the file type and format you want, such as "as an Excel file" or "as a PNG". The assistant decides when to build a file, and a clear request helps it get there.
- Be specific about slide count, titles and axis labels.
- Attach only the files you need. The assistant reads up to two attached files in full per message, and it picks the two most recently updated.
- Review every file before you share it, including layout and figures.
What you can create
| You ask for | You get | Edit by asking? |
|---|---|---|
| A slide deck | A PowerPoint file (.pptx), built on your own template if you attach one | Yes, in the same chat |
| A spreadsheet | An Excel file (.xlsx) | No, ask for a new version |
| A chart | An image file (.png) | No, ask for a new version |
Current limitations
- You get one file per answer. To get a deck and a spreadsheet, ask for them in separate messages.
- Template limits are covered in Create a slide deck on your own template.
- Editing limits are covered in Edit your deck by asking.
- Building a file takes longer than a text answer.
